Imam ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Mubarak (d. 181/797) may Allah be pleased with him said: “Isnad is part of religion (deen), and if it was not for Isnad, one would have said whatever one desired. When it is said (to the one who speaks without an Isnad): “Who informed you? He remains silent and bewildered.”

He also states: “The one who seeks matters of his deen without an Isnad is similar to the one who climbs to the roof without a ladder.” Imam Sufyan al-Thawri (d. 161/778) may Allah have mercy on him said: “Isnad is the weapon of a believer. When one does not possess a weapon, then with what will he combat?”

Our criteria for admission

Dār al-ʿUlūm accepts students from all walks of life who are serious about studying their deen. Any student has the potential for success, however students are expected to give 100% both in and out of the classroom.

Our criteria for admission are:

1. 1. A report from the applicant’s previous school deemed satisfactory by the Admissions Team.
2. 2. A report from the applicant’s previous madrasah deemed satisfactory by the Admissions Team.
3. 3. That the prospective applicant is judged to have sufficient aptitude, commitment and willingness to cope with the general pace of learning within the Dār al-ʿUlūm.
4. 4. That the Dār al-ʿUlūm will meet the needs of the applicant.

To apply, please complete and submit an application form along with the applicant’s latest available school and madrasah report. Please submit the application form and reports on admin@dui.org.uk
